Top 4 Features In Power BI’s 2025 Update!

Power BI has a whole bunch of great new features in 2025!

Microsoft just keeps on making this great software even better.

Let’s dive in and start learning what new features you should be using!

1 – Smart Narratives 2.0

Smart Narratives help explain your data, and now it’s been upgraded to Smart Narratives 2.0.

This update lets you create more complex reports with a narrative that will adapt to your data as and when you change it.

Compared to the old Smart Narratives, these have:

More Complex Insights

The new insights find trends, outliers and summaries without intervention.

Customisable Narratives

You can change and tweak the narrative, letting you customise it for presentation.

Real-time Adaptability

The narrative will automatically update when data changes, so you can be sure it’s always up-to-date.

This is an amazing tool for anyone looking to get more out of their data, and especially for presenting it.

2 – Azure Maps

Azure Maps are a new method for Map Visuals, showing data across geographical locations.

It connects to the Azure cloud service to retrieve accurate location data like map images.

The azure maps visualisation option

It can give amazing visualisations for spatial data on top of a map – like where the most sales are coming from.

These kinds of visualisation are great for presentations, as anyone can take a quick look and understand what locations are performing well, and which need work.

3 – Copilot & AI Updates

AI is everywhere by now, and just keeps getting iterated on.

More and more companies are starting to become more transparent with their AI tools, and Microsoft is too.

There is a new section called “How Copilot arrived at this” under the AI insights it provides, showing you what data was used and what filters were applied.

The

This gives a great insight into how the tool works, and helps teach people what AI is doing and why!

For a lot of people, these tools are still a mystery – part of the reason we started teaching Copilot courses to help them get up and running!

Also: CoPilot is now finally available for Power BI Mobile!

This means you can use its amazing AI insights on your phone and tablet too.

4 – Monitoring Hub

Here’s a big one – a new hub to monitor refreshes on your data models, data flows and pipelines.

The new monitoring hub in Power BI

Before the Monitoring Hub, you’d have to open up each model individually, then go to its refresh history – a very time-consuming job!

Now you can find all the refreshes you need, and open them up to find their detailed refresh history.

It even allows programs to access these details through an API, which is a great step towards making Power BI better integrate with other apps.

We expect to see many companies making programs to pull all the refresh data automatically, so people don’t have to do it themselves anymore!

Conclusion

Power BI is an amazing piece of software, and we are very happy to see it keep getting consistent updates.

With Smart Narratives, new visualisations, CoPilot updates & the Monitoring Hub, people are able to analyse, monitor and explain their data better than ever.
