SharePoint Vs OneDrive 2024

SharePoint and OneDrive are both cloud-based services for storing files.

But it’s not always obvious which you should be using and when.

So read on and find out exactly which you should pick up.

As OneDrive is very simple software to learn to use. SharePoint is a more complex enterprise-grade system that we run courses in London and online for to help people get it up and running.

SharePoint Vs. OneDrive

SharePoint

SharePoint is a web-based collaboration system.

It enables corporate teams to collaborate using workflow applications, “list” databases, other web elements, and security features.

SharePoint also enables the organisation to utilize the platform to manage information access and streamline workflows between business divisions.

Sharepoint is also a file-sharing software, as it lets people work on the same document at the same time.

It’s great for businesses.

OneDrive

OneDrive is Microsoft’s online storage service.

It is available to everyone with a Microsoft account.

To receive 5GB of free storage, you can sign up for any subscription on their site.

You also receive 1TB of data storage if you are subscribed to Microsoft 365!

This can be used for a backup for crucial documents, and to store large amounts of data you can’t hold on your pc!

It’s great for home users.

Key Differences

So what exactly is the difference?

Collaborative Vs. Individual Storage

Yes, both SharePoint and OneDrive are excellent for cloud-based storage.

But what you’ll be putting IN that storage is one of the key differences.

OneDrive is a more personal storage space.

Put any files and papers here that you don’t want other employees of your company to have access to.

On the other side, SharePoint is your shared cloud storage.

For anything you want someone else to see or collaborate on, use SharePoint.

You can also sync your OneDrive and SharePoint to bring files from one to the other, if you end up changing your mind!

Pricing And Accessibility

When it comes to choosing software for yourself or your business, pricing is a high priority.

SharePoint Online Plan 1

Small and medium-sized businesses should choose the first package, SharePoint Plan 1.

This plan is included in the overall package for OneDrive and SharePoint.

It costs £3.80 per user every month with a one-year commitment.

The features included in SharePoint Plan 1 are listed below.

SharePoint Online Plan 2

Large-scale commercial enterprises can use the SharePoint Plan 2.

It gives you complete access to SharePoint’s business tools as well as excellent customer support.

The cost per user/month for SharePoint Plan 2 is £7.50.

In addition to the advantages that the first plan offers, Plan 2 gives you a lot more features.

OneDrive Home Pricing

Users of the Standalone plan have the opportunity to increase to 100GB for just £1.99 per month.

For £59.99 per year or £5.99 per month, the next tier offers 1TB of storage.

Families may require more, which is what the £79.99 per year Microsoft 365 Family plan delivers.

Office programs are accessible to up to six users, and each user receives 1TB of storage.

OneDrive Business Pricing

The commercial user has four choices.

At the lowest level, £3.80 per user per month, each user has access to 1TB of storage.

You may purchase an additional £3.80 worth of storage space per user.

For large scale businesses, this can scale up dramatically.

It’s disappointing that neither Basic nor Standard provide limitless cloud storage.

Conclusion

Both SharePoint and Onedrive are excellent for sharing and storing files, and each has their place.
