What Are The Pros Of SharePoint?

So SharePoint is popular, but why?

1. Real-Time Collaboration

Collaboration is one of the most critical advantages of SharePoint.

You can share your files and folders with your colleagues, who can edit them alongside you in real-time.

This enhances workflow, decision-making, and other processes.

2. Document Exchange

When working on a big project, sharing documents with team members for evaluation or feedback is very common.

Sending documents, changing them, and then returning them to the senders is difficult and time-consuming.

This is very prone to human error in the form of simply missing a small change someone made.

SharePoint prevents this by providing a completely connected workspace for your team. You can create a list to show a document, with a complete history of all changes made.

3. Improved Security

SharePoint adheres to tight security restrictions as Microsoft takes it very seriously.

When making a website, there will be a lot of concerns about handling user data, for example.

SharePoint makes this all easy to manage, and offers a great suite of tools to keep your company safe!

We learn about these security features on our SharePoint courses to ensure you keep your documents secure.

What Is SharePoint Online?

SharePoint Online is much the same, but hosted completely by Microsoft.

Information is shared, stored, and used simultaneously by users – just the same.

But all of this is hosted by Microsoft on their own servers.

Businesses use a subscription to purchase the software.

This is very similar to OneDrive, which also offers document hosting off-site. This comparison on Microsoft vs OneDrive will let you find which is best for you.

The advantages of SharePoint Online are consistent with the advantages of cloud-based services as a whole.

These are a few of them:

  • Hosting software is not the responsibility of the company.
  • You can cancel the subscription whenever you need.
  • Microsoft oversees the software patches & data backups.

SharePoint Mobile

You can also access SharePoint, and it’s key features, all from your phone!

You can use your device to read content on websites, collaborate with coworkers, access shared documents, and stay connected to your job.

In addition, SharePoint has recently become much more accessible through the new SharePoint mobile apps.

You can even sync SharePoint to OneDrive to bring across all your files to the SharePoint server!

This lets you connect your own data when working from home, completely seamlessly.
